An initial conversation

Bring the difficult question.

You do not need a finished brief. A short description of the situation, the people affected, and the change you hope to make is a useful beginning.

A useful starting note

  • What situation needs to change, and why does it matter?
  • Who is involved, and who can authorize the work?
  • What is known, what is assumed, and what remains unclear?
  • What timing, obligations, or practical constraints matter?
  • What would make an initial analysis useful?

An initial note can describe the situation without sending confidential records. The scope and a suitable way to share supporting material can be agreed in the conversation.

What follows

The first task is to understand whether a focused problem-framing or analysis engagement would help. From there, define the scope, useful outputs, responsibilities, and terms for the work.
